Aberate

Level 4 Crúac Ritual

This ritual is seldom used because the use constitutes an instant masquerade violation. Additionally the ritual has some odd rammifications. Through the use of this ritual the acolyte attaches something from a corpse and restores some semblance of functionality. This is a prolonged action in which the practitioner must overcome the combined stamina of the recipient and the corpse in a single night. This process deals one point of lethal damage per point of stamina of the corpse as the graft melds into the recipients flesh, and costs one vitae per hour of work. Success means that the newly acquire parts graft onto the new host and retain a certain amount of functionality. New corpses work better then old corpses; especially if this ritual is used on a ghoul. Each day of decomposition adds a -1 cumulative modifier to all rolls involving the graft. In the case of a ghoul, these negative one modifiers also count as permanent aggravated damage boxes. Also, certain grafts can be unwieldly and disorientating and require an adjustment period during which the recipient will suffer additionaly culmulative penalties to dice pools involving the graft (these penalties are cumulative with the conditional modifiers previously given). Once healed the effects of this ritual last for one month, though the effects can be made permant by expending a dot of willpower (much as one would expend a dot when embracing), and the graft slowly appears to be a "naturally" occuring part of the recipients body. An individual can have a number of grafts equal to the practitioner's dots in Cruac.

Example: Terra decides she wants eyes in the back of her head. Because of size and the difficulty involved she decides that an eye in the palm of her hand is a better idea. After locating a suitable corpse she plucks out the eye and begins stitching it into place. a few hours later she has a fully functional eye in the palm of her hand.
