Shadows over Amsterdam

Because somehow, we're still here.

CAROS Foundation

The Foundation to Cultivate and Research Occult Science, or CAROS, was founded in 1982 from a group of occultists who had set themselves up in Amsterdam around 1860 under the name Stork-Lodge. The Foundation claims to work upon this passed on knowledge, and claims to have an excellent reputation in the fields of occult Sciences, the teachings and rituals of higher magick, and authentic witchcraft knowledge.

It's stated goal is to organize and manage of organizations of people, so called lodges, who share the purpose of studying and practicing the Occult sciences. Prospective members are required to supply personal information, including health issues and possible medication use, and are required to undergo a personality test. When their application has been approved, they must swear an oath to secrecy regarding the specific teachings of the Caros Lodges.

A number of ranks exist within the organization, based on knowledge and competency in the Caros teachings. The names and specifics of these ranks are however, not public knowledge.

During lodge meetings, all members are required to wear special lodge clothing, which for first year initiates consists of a brown garment, as this color is believed to have an absorbing and non-interfering quality in the field of the occult sciences. Each member is also required to carry and show a special I.D, known as a Syngraphus which contains a picture of the initiate, name, rank, grade, title, membership number, expiration date of the i.d, and finally the specific lodge that the person in question is a member of.

The organization also manages a sizeable occult library, though only members have access.

The Headquarters of the Foundation is located on the Tweede Jan Steen Straat, in the North-Eastern part of Amsterdam Old-South.
