IC Knowledge

To any Kindred in the city; he is the very definition of an inquisitor; Scary as hell and someone you want to stay away from as much as possible. The truth is, he'd much rather be able to blend in and hide his activities, as inquisitors often manage to uncover heresy much easier if no one knows that they're inquisitors; but, centuries spent as the first inquisitor of Amsterdam have made that impossible for him; That said, he does have his helpers, who are always eager to point out heresies to him where he himself has been blind to them.

Besides his position as inquisitor, he's also snagged the prestigious positions of Nosferatu Primogen, aswell as that of priscus. Not all of the clans within Amsterdam have a representative on the primogen council, and the fact that the Nosferatu do is a testament to their enduring legacy and position of status within the city; Every Kindred in the city knows; the Nosferatu get things done, as do they know that it is Berkhof who keeps the clan together.

Perhaps then, it is no wonder that he exemplifies the Nosferatu monstrosity and hideousness; He's even harder to be around than most Nosferatu, and if he wasn't the scary elder that he was, few would ever listen to him; The numerous scars that cover his body and face, aswell as the general deformed nature that seems so intrinsic to the Nosferatu of Amsterdam, see to that.

Young Kindred speak in hushed tones about his activities, and the rumors that have spread. Most of these rumors dissipate after only a few short years, but one amongst them has endured for decades; Supposedly, the inquisitor has an irrational obsession with the Jewish people, and in an almost stereotypical fashion, blames them for much of the world's ills. Numerous people have speculated as to the reasoning that has led Berkhof to that conclusion; but most of them revolve around the Invictus cyclical house Hellengraf, themselves believed to be of Jewish descent; When they arrived in Amsterdam, they settled themselves within the Jewish district, and quickly ingratiated themselves with the Jewish community. This fact however eludes most Neonates and Ancillae, who often see no direct link between the House and the Jews, and who parrot only the rumors passed down by their Sires.
