City Titles: Gaoler

Not all Kindred criminals are punished with Final Death, especially in a Sanctified domain like Amsterdam. Some crimes simply don't warrant it. And exile might not always be a suitable alternative either. In these cases, imprisonment is the only option. It is however, not the job of the Sheriff to oversee criminals once they've been apprehended and brought to justice. In some domains therefore, another position has emerged, created to deal with precisely that; The Gaoler.

The Gaoler's duty is to make sure that the prisoners are where they are supposed to be, don't escape, and that they are tended to in so far as their punishment allows. This might be done in any number of ways, from a traditional prison like environment with conscious prisoners, to the prisoners being staked and walled up in new construction sites, or old ruins.

The position is one that doesn't neccesarily attract much status amongst the masses of Kindred society, but a smart Prince will certainly be thankful for a job well done, afterall; having criminals breach their prison walls and escape the Prince's justice will not look good for the Prince or his city.
