Because somehow, we're still here.
Het Gooi
'T Gooi in the Amsterdam Setting consists of the towns/villages of Bussum, Naarden, Huizen, Blaricum, Eemnes, and Laren. and the forests and hills in between them. But does not consist of the largest population centre in the region, Hilversum, which is formally considered a part of the domain of Utrecht, to the south.
'T Gooi is noteable particularly for it's beautiful light hills and forests, aswell as being the place where a lot of the rich and wealthy make their homes. Mansions and Estates, sequestered away in the forests and hills are a common sight here, as are the historical medieval centers of the towns and villages. Similarly, the historic defenses of the Waterline, and the fortress at Naarden can be impressive sights. Numerous archeology digs exist here aswell, as it's one of the oldest sites of human habitation in the region, dating back as far as 1800 BC.
The region is characterized in the rest of the country as being full of 'elite snobs', known colloqually as 'Kakkers', due in part to their accent, and in part because of the great concentration of wealth.
