Shadows over Amsterdam

Because somehow, we're still here.

Museum District

The Museum Plein (Museum Square) is Europe's largest inner city square, and today is mainly a well manicured large field of grass next to the two biggest Museums in the city (aswell as the Stadschouwburg), The Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum aswell as the Diamond Museum and the Stedelijk Museum. The U.S consulate can also be found here, and plenty of hotels and restaurants can be found around the square aswell. Everything about it screams aesthetic perfection. From the benches, to the trashcans, everything is thought out, well-planned, and beautiful to behold. Both locals and ex-pats favor the square to hang out with friends and family.

During a reconstruction effort in 1999, the square was turned from a paved square with trees, into it's current grassy form with an underground parking garage and supermarket. Like most squares in the city, a considerable number of trams have their stop at the Museumplein.
