Purmerend

Surrounded by polders and farmland, purmerend didn't start experiencing serious growth until after 1960, when it grew from 10.000, to 80.000 or so in the present. As a result, most of the city consists of relatively new cookie-cutter construction projects. These primarily come in the form of family residences, though some apartment blocks do exist. While the rich generally prefer other places to settle, there are plenty of well-off residents, along with the large middle-class population, and by far the majority of the population works in Amsterdam.
