Shadows over Amsterdam

Because somehow, we're still here.

Vondelpark

The Vondelpark is Amsterdam's largest and best known parks, and was created in 1864. It's a typical city-park, with well-worn pedestrian and bike paths, ponds, fields of grass, and well-kept treelines. On the other hand, it also has all of the less appealing parts that go with city-parks, such as muggings at night, junkies who use the park to shoot up, and so on. In fact, in recent years the first thing people from Amsterdam think of when they think of the Vondelpark, is used and discarded needles.

That said, the park is not without it's charms, and during a sunny day you will find plenty of people enjoying the park, playing sports, sunbathing, or having a beer on one of the benches or fields of grass. And with it's dimensions of 1KM in length and 200 metres in width, there is plenty of room for that.
